Support the Hearing Impaired Today
Hi, my name is Marta Wagner. I was born 11 weeks early weighting 2 lbs 2 oz. I
spent the first 22 months of my life in the hospital because of complications from
my early birth. Due to these complications I became deaf. At 22 months, I was
blessed to be adopted by my adoptive parents. I received hearing aids and
extensive speech and auditory training during my childhood, but I still rely on
sign language and lip reading for communication. In 2007 my son John was
born and I was so happy. He is hearing and has learned to sign. However, I don’
t want my son to grow up  “being my ears”. It would be wonderful if I had a dog
trained to alert me to sounds in my environment and when my son calls me for
help. It would help me to be more independent and not have to rely on my 7 year
old son.

Recently, I discovered a company in the San Diego area who trains service
dogs to help hearing impaired and any other person with a disability adapt to
everyday life. Little Angels Service Dogs has approved me to receive one of
these very special dogs.   It is a charitable 501c3 non-profit organization that
allows all donations to be tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. The dogs
are trained in foster homes from the moment they are weaned.  The foster
families do a fantastic job of getting these pups used to some very unusual
circumstances at an early age.   Once the dogs are mature enough, they are
brought back to the dog training facility for specialized training to assist the
individual with whom they will be placed.

This hearing dog will be trained to perform a number hearing alerts that will help
me. The dog will also help me in social situations so I know if someone is calling
me or there is a dangerous situation. It would be a wonderful gift for me to
receive the benefits of a hearing service dog. Every dog Little Angels provides
is paid for by donations.   There are a lot of expenses associated with training a
dog so skilled, so I’m working as a volunteer to help raise some of these funds.

Please consider making a tax deductible donation to Little Angels Service
Dogs.

My son and I cannot thank you enough for your help!
